2006 Audi R10 TDI by Revell, 1:24

Hey everyone!

New member here. I'll give a little background about myself. My name is Andy, 24 and live in Phoenix. Moved out here less than a year ago, having spent the entirety of my life previously in the Chicagoland area.

I used to model Gundam kits by Bandai about 10-12 years ago when I was a kid and decided to get back into it. Since then I've grown an affinity towards cars and automobiles in general. I recently picked up a Gundam kit to wet my teeth and the same day ran back to the store and picked up a Ferrari 458 Italia by Revell (1:24)... pretty much screwed that one up and decided to grab the Audi R10 this thread is about to apply some renewed, and new, skills.

------------ end of personal crap ------------

So, with that, here's the thread. Not much progress going on initially here. As you can see I've got the basic body parts clipped out, and the engine/rear assembly put together.

Right now I'm working on laying down the red areas. Stupidly I forgot to add some in of the extended body panels (are inlets on the side) and masked them completely off, so I've got to mask those sections of properly and finish the red. I'm rattle canning most of the paint (for the large areas primarily), no airbrush. Ran into some paint globbing up at the tip of part of the body, so that's put me behind a bit...

I'm also planning on painting the carbon fiber myself. I picked up some wedding ribbon which under tests produces desirable effects, however applying it to curved surfaces is proving tough. I'll of course post pics when I get there.

That's about it for now... I know, pictures are always nice but that's what I've got. I'm open to critiques and suggestions completely! I'm basically new to all of this so tips, tricks, suggestions and simply pointing out what I messed up is 100% welcome!

Btw, I know there's another thread for the same model kit and it was exceptional... don't expect this to be as good, lol.

edit: Ahh, what the hell. Here's a pic of the 458 Italia I'm somewhat working on still:
