Bare Metal Foling

Hello, maybe this question sonds like a joke to somebody, but here I go.

I'm part of this community since Dec 2010, I've read some forums where they mention the "Bare Metal Foling" (BMF), my question is this, is BMF a sheet of metal with some kind of adhesive material or is a simple sheet of metal like the one use some mothers to cover meal? I had to do this question because i'm interested on using this technique on my next project, but I'm from Guadalajara México and in my local hobby store the don't know what is this material.

I hope you can help me with this issue.
